Rules
MIRAMICHI
DRAGWAY PARK GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS - All participants and spectators enter at own risk
- All forms and waivers must be signed
before competing at any M.D.P. event. This includes test sessions.
- All vehicles must first
complete and pass technical inspection before being allowed to make a trial run, or participate in any event conducted at
M.D.P. This includes test sessions. Any driver found to be in violation of the above rule will be immediately disqualified,
forfeit all entry fees and will forfeit all points for that event.
- Each driver of a vehicle
entered in any events must have a valid drivers license or an IHRA or NHRA competition license. All licensed drivers must
be at least 16 years of age.
- Each member of a participating crew must be fully attired when
present in the staging, starting and competition areas of the race track. Shoes are mandatory. Shorts, bare legs, tank tops,
or bare torsos are prohibited when driving in any class.
- No more than one person is permitted
in any car during any run.
- Participants at M.D.P. events are expected at all times to conduct
themselves in a professional and non-disruptive manner. Any participant who, in the sole and absolute judgement of M.D.P.:
- Verbally or physically threatens another participant or another person
- Engages
in unsportsmanlike conduct or conduct detrimental to the sport of racing
- Otherwise creates a
condition or circumstance which is unsafe, unfair, or out of order shall have violated the rules of M.D.P. and is subject
to disqualification.
- There shall be a ZERO TOLERANCE policy with regard to alcohol or drugs. Any driver, pit crew member or
track official found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during competition, regardless of amount, shall be deemed
under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and shall be immediately barred from any further involvement or participation in
the events. No drugs or alcohol will be allowed in the pit area during competitions.
- No Excessive
Speed on the return lane or in the pit area. Max speed in return lane or in the pit area is 5MPH. Anyone that is driving in
an unsafe or dangerous manner will be issued One Warning. On the second offence you will be Immediately Barred from any further
racing for this event, and will Forfeit all entry fees and points for that event. This rule will be Strictly Enforced.

- Please protect our children
- No
work may be done under any car in the pit area while the car is supported by only one jack. Additional safety devices such
as jack stands are mandatory to provide additional protection in the event of jack failure. Failure to observe this rule is
grounds for immediate Disqualification.
- All pre-race burnouts are restricted to designated
areas, using water only. If a contestant’s car should break on a burnout and cannot back up or be pushed back, it is
not permitted to turn on the track and drive back to starting line. Crossing the centre line during a burnout is not grounds
for disqualification. Fire burnouts are strictly prohibited. No person is permitted to hold or touch cars during burnouts.
- Once a car reaches the front of the staging lanes for a run, it must be prepared to fire and
race. In order to be a legitimate race winner, a contestant’s car must self start and self stage. This rule also applies
to single runs. Push starting a vehicle or push staging any vehicle is prohibited. Any driver leaving the starting line before
the start system is activated, including drivers on a single run, will have their time disqualified for the run.
- One of the rarities at a drag racing event is the situation in which two cars are disqualified during the same elimination
race. In most cases, both offending contestants are disqualified. Those situations include;
- Both
drivers crossing the boundary lines·
- Both drivers deep staging
- Both drivers leaving the starting line before the start system is activated.
Should a driver
receive a red light foul start, and the opposing driver cross the boundary line, the latter infraction would prevail and the
driver committing the foul start would be reinstated. In cases where both opponents cross the centre line or outside line,
both drivers will be disqualified. Contact with the guardrail, barriers, or any other track fixture is grounds for disqualification.
Intentional crossing of boundary lines to leave track or avoid depositing debris on track is not grounds for disqualification.
- Lane choice is determined by low ET.
Dogs - All dogs must be accompanied by owner(s) at all times and must not be left unattended.
- No dogs permitted beyond the staging lanes or tower area during track operations.
- All
dogs must be on a leash at the track at all times. Dogs left unattended must be confined in a dog kennel, camper or vehicle
for their safety and the safety of fellow racers and spectators.
- Quiet time is 11PM. Please
respect your fellow racers and families.
BIKES AND SNOWMOBILES - Operational
front and rear brakes are required on all bikes, and must be in good condition.
- Chain guards
and clutch covers are required on all entries.
- Bikes that run 10.99 or quicker and all snowmobiles
must have a lanyard or tether switch attached to the rider.
- Tank mounted fuel shutoffs are required
on all bikes that run 9.99 or quicker.
- Snap back throttles are required on all machines.
- No bicycle parts permitted on any machine.
- Front suspension tie downs are Strictly
Prohibited. Front suspension must have a minimum of 1 ½ inches of travel.
- Rear fenders
of all bikes must cover the full width of tire used, extend behind the rear axle and below the rider seating position. Road
race type seats with hump back extending over the axel will be accepted.
- All machines must have
stable and secure seal, foot pegs, and handle grips.
- All bikes and snowmobile riders must wear
a Snell 80 or newer approved helmet. Any rider going 9.99 or quicker must wear a Snell 85 or newer approved helmet.
- All riders must wear acceptable gloves, boots or shoes above the ankles. Full leathers or Kevlar suits are mandatory
on all entries. SFI 40.1 is recommended.
- Snowmobile tracks must be of flat type configuration.
Paddles or studs are Strictly Prohibited. Tack must be in good condition. External slide rail lubrication system on snowmobiles
is prohibited. Minimum of 1 inch travel on rear suspension. Minimum 4 boogie wheels per side. All hyfax slides must be removed.
CARS
- All cars in competition with any type of water overflow capable of spilling water must have a catch
can to accumulate the excess liquids and not leak onto the track. Minimum catch can capacity 1 pint. Catch can must be securely
fastened; bolted, clamped.
- Brakes on each car, regardless of class, are tested for pedal feel.
Brakes must be in good working order.
- Each car's steering must be secure and free of defects.
Steering will be tested for looseness.
- Any vehicle having excess fluid leakage as so deemed
by the Tech Inspectors or Track Officials will not be permitted on the racing surface.
- Tires
will be visually checked for condition, pressure, etc., and must be considered free of defects by the Technical Inspector
prior to any run. All street tires must have a minimum of 1/6 inch thread depth. Temporary spares, space saver spares, farm
implement, trailer tires or recaps are Strictly Prohibited.
- Snap on hubcaps are Prohibited
in all classes. Hub caps must be removed before tech inspection to allow for a technical inspector of lug nuts, wheels, worn
or oversize lug holes etc. All lug nuts and studs must be visible to Tech Inspectors.
- All seats
must be securely fastened.
- All batteries must be securely mounted and may not be relocated into
the drivers or passenger compartment. The use of rubber tie downs or j-hooks are prohibited. All relocated batteries must
have a master shut off switch located outside of the vehicle and clearly marked "on/off." Trunk mounted batteries
must be separated from drivers compartment by a firewall or be contained in a steel or an IHRA approved poly box and be securely
mounted with minimum 3/8 diameter fasteners.
- Functional safety neutral switch and spring loaded
reverse lock out required on all vehicles equipment with manual transmissions are Mandatory.
- Traction
bars and/or mounting brackets must not be lower than lowest edge of wheel rim.
- Drive shaft loops
are required on all vehicles 13.99 quicker using slicks, 12.99 or quicker on street tires. Loops must be minimum ¼
inch steel by 2 inches wide. Must completely circle drive shaft within 6 inches of front u-joint. 2 driveshaft loops mandatory
on all entries running 9.99 or quicker.
- Transmission shield meeting SFI 4.1 spec required on
all cars 10.99 or quicker or exceeding 135.MPH. For clutch, flywheel and flex plate and width of drivers compartment, to the
rear of drivers seat.
- Floors are required to isolate driver’s compartment from track and
tires. All cars without original floor must have floors constructed of .024 steel or .032 aluminum or driver’s compartment,
to the rear of driver’s seat.
- Parachutes mandatory on all cars running 150 MPH or greater.
- Harmonic balancer meeting SFI spec 18.1 required on all cars running 9.99 or quicker.
- Maximum
height of crankshaft centerline is 36 inches on OEM trucks, all others 24 inches.
- Roll bars
mandatory in all cars 9.00 to 11.49 and in all convertibles 13.49 or quicker. Properly constructed and secured roll cage mandatory
in all cars running 9.00 or quicker. Roll bars and cages must be padded anywhere the drivers helmets may contact it while
in driving position. Adequate padding must have minimum of 1/4 inch compressions or SFI spec 45.1 recommended. Refer to IHRA
rulebook for further info.
- Window net 27.1 mandatory on any car with roll cage.
- Driver in all classes must wear a seat belt. Seat belts meeting SFI spec 16.1 5 point harnesses required on all cars
running 11.49 or quicker and in all convertibles running 13.49 or quicker. All belts must be securely fastened to frame, cross
member or reinforced mounting.
- Fire systems are required on all closed body cars running 8.49
or quicker, one nozzle on driver and one on the engine. Fire systems are recommended on all closed body cars running 8.49
or slower.
- It is recommended that each contestant and or his crew have a loaded, serviceable
fire extinguisher or fire blanket in their possession, carried in the push car, race car or otherwise available for immediate
use. Dry chemical or C)-2 type fire extinguishers, 1 ½ pound minimum size are recommended.
- Firewall
required between drivers compartment and engine compartment. Firewalls must be completely sealed. Non OEM firewall must be
constructed of .032 aluminum .024 steel or approved fiberglass, carbon fibre or composite material.
- Aftermarket
axles and axle retainers mandatory on all entries 10.90 or quicker, or all cars equipped with spools. Welded spider gears
prohibited. High strength wheel studs are mandatory on all Super-Pro entries & highly recommended on all entries with
slicks.
- All sportsman drivers must wear a helmet in acceptable condition. All entries 13.99
to 10.00 must wear a Snell 85 or newer approved helmet. All entries 9.99 or quicker must wear a Snell 90 or newer approved
helmet.
- Dual throttle springs are mandatory on all entries.
- Neck
collar spec 3.3 mandatory in all cars 9.99 or quicker.
- Arm restraints are mandatory in all open
bodies’ cars.
- Fire jackets meeting SFI spec 3.2 A-1 required on all entries running 11.49
or quicker. All cars running 9.99 or quicker must have 3.2 A/5 jackets. All cars running 8.49 or quicker must also have 3.2
A/5 fire pants. Open body cars must have glove, boots or shoes meeting SFI 3.3/5 spec.
- All fuel
tank filler necks located inside trunk must have filler neck vented to outside of body. Vented caps prohibited. All fuel lines,
pumps, filler necks or tank located inside of trunk from driver compartment. Fuel lines must be located outside of driver’s
compartment. Non metallic fuel cells or tank must be grounded. Rubber hose may be used in no more than 12 inch length.
- All vehicles competing at Miramichi Dragway events must display the driver’s competition number. Numbers must
be a minimum 6 inches high and 1 ½ inches wide. Class designation letters must be a minimum 3 inches high and 1 inch
wide. Drivers competition numbers and class designation must be displayed in a legible manner in a contrasting colour to the
vehicles background legible manner in a contrasting colour to the vehicles background colour, or light colour on windows,
in a prominent position and be clearly visible to the tower personnel.
- Sportsman cars will
be prohibited to use delay box in their cars. Box must be removed from vehicle.
- Pro cars
will be prohibited to use delay box in their cars.Box must removed from vechile.
- Any system
that does not fit the above description is prohibited and must be corrected before the vehicle will be passed through pre-event
technical inspection. All decisions made by the technical inspector are FINAL.
- It is the Sole
responsibilities of the driver and or owner of the vehicles to ensure that the vehicle conforms to all safety standards that
